SUSTAINABLE REMODEL
IN PROGRESS
The owners of this existing 872 square foot one-level single family home in Minneapolis want to add a second floor and a small addition. They want to reuse the existing foundation and siding as much as possible to reduce costs and waste. They also want to attach a garage to replace the existing garage that they currently share with their neighbors. Minimal construction will be done in their existing basement which now houses a utility room, laundry room and a family room.

In addition to having a new open first floor plan, we've included a main floor office that can be converted to a bedroom with an attached 1/2 bath so they can age in place. The remodeled first floor and new second floor will have lots of windows to let natural light into the interior spaces and help with passive solar energy strategies.

The first floor open spaces extend out as a front porch and back deck to make them feel larger, bring the outdoors inside and also give the owners great spaces to connect with their neighbors.
